Find Out What’s Hot On Social Networks With Surchur

Dubbed as the “ultimate “what’s on the web now” dashboard for any topic”, Surchur was relaunched a month ago that offers Internet users the latest and greatest topics and trends on social websites. On the homepage, you’ll see the latest topics on Yahoo Buzz, CNN, Google Trends, Twitter Search and Technorati Popular. This only provides users a glance of what’s the hot topics right now but you can find out more about your favorite or interesting topics by clicking of them. Besides the current popular topics, the “Weekly Hots” and “Daily Hots” track the hot topics and shows them on a weekly and daily basis respectively.

It isn’t just like any other feeds aggregator or search engines awaiting your queries. Its “surch” engine is superb which enables you to find out the latest gossip news or information about your favorite popstar or keeping track the AIG case closely. Simply punch in the related keywords and you’ll then be presented a comprehensive list of stuff. You can filter your results of what types of searches you want by clicking on either one of these options “social web”, “pictures”, “blogs”, “news”, “video” and “products”.

For the “social web”, it grabs information from Digg, Delicious and Twitter. For “pictures”, it’ll be from Flickr, Photobucket and Pixsy. For “blogs’, it takes from Google Blog Search, IceRocket and Technorati. For “news”, it’ll be from Newsvine, Wikio News and Yahoo News. For “video”, it pulls in data from YouTube, Truveo and Pixsy. However, there is one downside with this search engine. According to the folks at Surchur, “isn’t so good for that narrow, topical Surch that you might make on one of those big leviathan search engines. For example, type in “toby’s cinnamon spice peach cobbler” into Surchur.com and we’re pretty sure you’ll be disappointed.”

Overall, I pretty love the neat and well-designed user-interface and of course the information Surchur provides. It’s really useful and this is my first time seeing such a wonderful platform that can helps me find out the latest trends and topics on the web now. This is probably much better than Google in terms of the way it delivers search results to users. But of course, Surchur mainly focuses on social networking sites and popular news websites, hence Google will still become an essential search engine in our lives on the Internet.
