SimilGoogle: “The Search Engine Which Can Change The World. Bye-bye Google-web!”

similgoogle-logoThe problem which most of us faced while making a search query on the Internet is that Google usually repeats its search results especially for popular search terms. While browsing through the first page of search results, you’d find that you’ve to keep clicking on the “Next” button at the bottom of the page in order to find what you really want or need. This has resulted in time wasting.

If you’re a frequent Googler, you’d have noticed that for most of its results, there is a link which says “Similar Pages”. This useful feature enables users to search for web pages that have similar content to a given site. However, there are some downsides of these feature. This is when SimilGoogle comes in handy. Dubbed as a way to “Discover A New Web”, Similgoogle is a newly-launched search engine that make use of Google’s Similar Pages to help Internet users to enhance their search experience on the net.

How does SimilGoogle works? For each results it search the first similar pages (“realted:link”) in Google. Then Similgoogle shows you this related results. For the first and the second Google result, Similgoogle shows you the first and the second similar pages. This is indeed a wonderful idea to make a good and original research. For example, you’re instructed by your teacher to research on a particular project, maybe regarding a technology company called Microsoft. Since most kids today are quite tech-savvy, they will tend to search on Google rather than heading to the library because looking up on the Internet is much faster and sometimes even more accurate and relevant results. However, what if you and your fellow classmates find the same results in Google and of course the teacher won’t want to read duplicate content!

Besides searching for webpages, SimilGoogle even supports Image and Video Search. For the Image Search (a.k.a SimilFlickr), it’s powered by Yahoo acquisition – Flickr. On the other hand, the Video Search (a.k.a SimilYouTube) is based on the world’s most popular video sharing platform – YouTube.
