Support us in the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympics Games Blogging Competition

I am sure most of you guys are not aware of what is the Youth Olympics Games (YOG) buzz all about. Well, it is actually an international multi-sport event held every four years in staggered summer and winter events complementing the current Olympic Games, and will feature athletes between the ages of 14 and 18. Although it isn’t as grand as the Summer and Winter Olympics Games, but I’m proud to say that as a loyal Singaporean, we are very delighted and fortunate to host the Youth Olympics Games despite our small land area of only 710.2 km2 with a multi-racial community of 4.8 million people.

Both Zhou Tong and I will be participating in the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games blogging competition (the website has several problems with its server) which requires students to write articles and upload digital content in a blog. The blog will be judged by the Singapore YOG Committee and students can win attractive prizes. The main objective of this competition is to create awareness for youths like us and give our thoughts and opinions. Besides that, the organizer hopes to attract foreigners to watch the sporting events next year from 14 to 26 August in Singapore via these blogs.

Originally, we are to register a blog hosted by the organizer using a WordPress MU Platform in order to participate in the competition. However, due to the lack of customization of templates, the inability to upload useful PHP plugins and the long and confusing blog URL, we opted out from the WordPress MU Platform. As professional technology bloggers, we have singed up our own domain name and host it all by ourselves.

Known as WeLoveYOG.com, Zhou Tong and I have planned to generate lots of buzz mainly from the United States of America and Europe using the power of Twitter through this blog to promote the Youth Olympics Games. We have even thought of beating the official Singapore 2010 blog in terms of content, design and of course the number of visitors reading what we young kids have written. Based on our vast experiences and abilities, I’m sure WeLoveYOG will become a hit on both the virtual and physical worlds. To us, this is not only a competition, but also a way to improve our English writing skills and to celebrate Singapore’s first Youth Olympic Games.

Of course, we need your support by spreading the word of mouth in helping us to garner more interested readers who are curious to know the thoughts and opinions shared by the kids themselves and not adults. So what are you waiting for? Visit WeLoveYOG.com or re-tweet this articles. We are rushing on our first article titled ‘The First Youth Olympic Games’ which has to be submitted to the organizer on 15th June. Thanks for your support!
