Laptops: Which one?

During this Information Age it seems to most of us that having a computer is a basic need. Recently, laptops ( although they are more expensive) are slowly becoming more popular. Be it the psychological midset of having a computerlaptops which can be taken to the moon in a bag or the miniscule depth of the screen, laptops are becoming more popular.

Next, we face the problem of ‘which laptop shall we buy’ and ‘which gives us our money’s woth’. After all, the following criteria: in the order of importance, influences our decision.

According to one market research company, DisplaySearch, the following computer companies were the market leaders in laptop and notebook sales during the first quarter of 2008.

Then, us poor consumers have to realise that HP and Dell are actually bigger companies and have the ability to expand: others may not. Then we have to consider that Apple produces a more powerful OS but is at least twice, if not more, as expensive.

Then we go back to step one. How much are you willing to spend? How powerful does your notebook need to be? So much for the table above!

So we resort to personal experience. Just an hour ago, my dad went out to do shopping. Guess what was on the shopping list? A notebook! I am not a hardcore techie whose needs include a lightning speed OS so, Apple went out of the door. Companies futher down the DisplaySearch list is what my father says are ‘unreliable’. That then leaves just HP or Dell. My Dad researched and found that the HP service centre is a 15 minute drive away from our residence and Dell’s sre not far either. The point that tipped the scales though was the fact that Dell provided extremely similar ‘extras’ to HP for RM 900 cheaper. Not bad eh?

I can’t wait to get my hands on that Dell!
