Twitter is becoming more of an epi-center of news events. Most teens nowadays don’t really bother much what’s happening in the world, especially politics. What they care about is managing their social profile on Facebook – uploading and tagging photos and videos, sharing with their friends of what they are doing, chatting with one another via Facebook’s built-in IM. What’s more, games like Pet Society, Mafia Wars tend to attract teens. To them, Twitter is merely a micro-blogging platform which only allows them to publish updates in less than 140 characters. Why More Females Than Males Use Twitter?

This isn’t just occurring on Twitter, but also on most social networking websites such as Facebook, Flickr, MySpace and Friendfeed. But why? Well, women tend to be more social and they simply resort to more virtual contact because their real world physical everyday life leaves them rather more dissatisfied than it does men. Another main reason could be that women have less time than men. This may lead to using less time-consuming social connection methods, and social media is a great one (along with text messages), unlike phone calls, for instance. (Via Adva Shaviv)

I agree the fact that women rule the social web but I simply couldn’t figure out why there are more females than males on Twitter. Well, a large percentage of users on Twitter are bloggers, Internet entrepreneurs, and Internet marketers, promoting their articles to a wider audience. These group of tech-savvy people are usually males.

Yet, the social networking giant has managed to attract a more affluent audience, according to Quantcast.
