More than a year ago in July 2008, Twitter moved into a new office located at 539 Bryant St., Suite 402
San Francisco, CA. And now the folks behind the world’s most popular micro-blogging platform will be working in a newer, and more spacious environment. Using a pie of the $100 million funding they received from investors in late September, Twitter has just signed a sublease deal which will see its headquarters tripling in size to 31,000 square foot. The social company will move in November into the sixth floor of 795 Folsom St., a 184,000-square-foot building, now used by another social-networking firm, Bebo Inc., which is owned by AOL.
Sarah Gavin, vice president for communications at AOL, said Bebo plans to move from the sixth floor to a lower floor “to take up a more appropriate size space in the same building.”
According to Twitter’s LinkedIn profile, only 50 employees are working in its current headquarters, serving over 54 million users worldwide. But the company also has 30 openings posted online for positions that include software engineers, customer support workers and office support staff. Its new headquarters will give the company room to grow to as many as 200 employees.
Recently, social networking giant Facebook moved to a new cozy 150,000-square-foot office located at Palo Alto, California, USA. Its new interior revamp was designed by the folks at Studio O+A, and each of every Facebook employees were consulted to find out what they wanted and what would their work experience better and more productive.
