As telecommunications and technology changes how we live our lives, it is not inconceivable to think that in the near future, we will control every aspect of our world via social media and personal devices. No longer only found in science-fiction, smart-devices and mobile communications are part of everyday life and they can only get more advanced.
The folks at US Infrastructure has designed a pretty cool infographic illustrating how you will be living in the future. It depicts a scene of a city in the near future, probably not more than 5 years.
Technology is evolving at such a rapid pace it’s hard to tell what will happen in six months. It’s pretty hard to predict what products will make it to the market and which will take the crown and end up as everybody’s favorite toy, business companion or home entertainment device.
Over the years, technology has changed rapidly, and it advances with a geometric progression rather than an arithmetical one. A decade ago, mobile phones weighed and looked like the size of a house brick. In a blink of an eye, today’s mobile phones are so small and thin that they could even be placed in your chest pocket. And we are still not contented and crave for more impressive features and intuitive interfaces despite the fact that smartphones already have touch-screen interfaces to help us navigate through apps, surf the web, and even play games like Tap Tap Revenge 3.
Not only does the mobile phone technology advances rapidly, but almost all the technologies embraced by other industries (games, computers, cars, bio-technology, stem-cell technology) are getting more powerful and advanced than ever.
I wonder how the world will be like 25 years down the road, when I’m 40, working in the society. I believe in the year 2035, robots will be commonly seen and used as servants, helping to lighten the workload on humanity and provide companionship, as seen from the sci-fi movie I, Robot.
