Last week Google announced the Nexus One. The Nexus One is running Google’s 2.0 Android OS, nothing special.
Of course, this won’t be a bad phone, just not something to kill the iPhone, and isn’t that how we compare all phones? What makes the Nexus One not so special, is the fact it is just Android 2.0. You can find Android 2.0 on every phone with Android, just like the recently released Motorola Droid.
I am a fan of Android, I may even like it better then the iPhone OS. Read my artice here: http://bt.gd/DroidArticle. The Nexus One is running Android, so I will be fine with it. It is missing multi-touch. It is just a thing that a user might want really want.
Another big problem, is the fact it will most likely not be on Verizon. The Nexus One uses a SIM card system, something Verizon doesn’t support. Most likely the phone will be on AT&T. Why use a really good phone, if you can’t receive good cell reception.
The only way I think the Nexus One could kill the iPhone is if it was different. It needs to get off the 2.0 OS and run something customized by Google. If not, it will rather be a model for all other Android phones. If it doesn’t find another OS, it will not succeed.
