Today at CES (Consumer Electronics Show) Samsung rolled out a lot of cool, innovative, products.
At the beginning of the press conference Samsung talked about how they are going to hammer applications. They are going to try to implement them into their Blu-Ray players, cell phones, and TV. An application store will be rolled out this spring, and a “premium application” store later in the year. I think putting applications in all of these devices is a great idea. During the press conference they noted how fun it would be for the developers to create applications on a 55 inch screen. It is going to be great using applications, watching Youtube videos, and looking at pictures from Flickr, on such a big screen.
Samsung is now going to release 3D, HD, televisions to the consumer. They have developed 3d lights, glasses, Blu-Ray players, televisions, and speakers for the perfect home theater experience, coming later this year. They showed the audience there at CES, “Monsters vs Aliens”, with their new 3d Blu-Ray player, glasses, and televisions. No pricing has been released.
The Omnia 2, Moment, and Mythic are all getting television antennas so you can watch “real” television, right on your phone.
Samsung is rolling out their new MP3 player, the “Ice Touch”.
Two really nice digital cameras were also talked about today, the NX10 and S16. The S16 has one of the coolest features EVER. The S16 streams 1080p video to your Samsung TV or over WiFi. A new point and shoot camera was also released, the Cl80.
Samsung also released a new projector and computer screen setup.
A new netbook and printer were released. The netbook features a 12 hour battery.
The highlight of the event was Samsung’s new e-book reader. Google is the official content partner to the new e-book. Google has over 1 million books archived. Two versions were released, a 10 in. and a 6 in. Each version involves a QWERTY keyboard and the ability to write directly on it. With Google’s archives, it will make one great product.
Samsung also made the point that they are trying to keep EVERY one of their products connected. Example: Samsung phone paired to their TV.
