Facebook recently rolled out a new redesign that places a new emphasis on search, with features that help you find what you are looking for on the social networking site without any much hassle. For example, the top menu has been simplified to make it easier to get to what’s fresh and important. The notification bar, which was located at the bottom right hand corner of the page, has been moved to the top menu section alongside with the more prominently placed search bar. And it has been rumored that Mark Zukerberg and Co. are working on a full featured webmail product called Project Titan.
Few days ago, the folks over at Facebook have launched a simple yet useful auto-clicking photo slideshow prototype feature that allows users to view photo albums without clicking the “Next” or “Previous” button. No longer would you need to keep clicking through an album — enjoy the photo albums hands-free and let Facebook do the job. This feature has already been implemented on Friendster for quite a while, and it’s not known why Facebook didn’t include it from the start of the day they release photo albums.
To use the feature, simply head over to this page and click on “Activate Prototype”. Under the “Photos” tab on the home page, select a photo album. You will then notice a “Play” button in between the original “Next” and “Previous”. Hit it with your mouse and you are good to go! From the reviews posted by users who have tried out the feature, it seems that most of the testers are pretty satisfied with it. However, it would be great if users could adjust the speed (Fast, Medium or Slow) of the photo slideshow.
