Just a couple of minutes ago, Tech Crunch got word that Google has officially hopped on to the URL shortening bandwagon. Google’s new service is called Goo.gl.
Google says that Goo.gl’s main focus is security. Many services like Bit.ly have malicious content, that you do not want to see. I have a lot of faith Google will work really hard to stop that.
Goo.gl is only available through their toolbar and Feedburner, for now. I am really hoping we will see a full site to use. I just searched Google’s Chrome Extensions page, and Goo.gl was not up there. I am sure it will be soon.
Google also says this will be faster, but I am not really sure how. Speed would be the only noticeable thing with this product, in my opinion.
I will not use this product until a full webpage is released.
This just shows how many services Google is coming out with. They are truly close to dominating the internet.
