The Nexus One is said to be the fastest Android phone out there to date.

The phone is available on Tmobile right now. It will soon be available on Verizon and Vodaphone (Europe). Google will be selling two versions of the device themselves. One of the versions costing (unsubsidized) $529.00. The unsubsidized version is said to work on any network except AT&T’s 3G, but you can still connect to their Edge network. The subsidized version, or the $179.00 version, will be available on Tmobile’s network. To use the subsidized version you have to pay for Tmobile’s Nexus One specific plan. The plan entitles you to 500 talk, unlimited Tmobile to Tmobile, unlimited text and web. The plan will cost $79.99. Some Tmobile customers will be availible for upgrade pricing.

The phone is running Android 2.1, with some specific software features. The speed of the hardware and the nice 3D screen compliment the Android 2.1 OS perfectly. One of them including the nice Live Wallpapers the phone has. The wallpapers move vividly in the background, and some even communicate with touch. Although these probably suck down battery life they are still nice to have. The battery isn’t the best. It is said by Michael Arrington, that the phone it self only gets 1.5 hours of battery life while gaming. The phone also has Google’s text to speech application. Demoed by Joshua Topolsky.

The Android 2.1 OS itself has many great software features. It features a competitive application market to the iPhone. You can download almost any application you want. The OS also integrates with Google’s software. Google Calendar, Voice, and Mail work so well on the phone. They also sync with your Google products in the cloud.

In my opinion, what makes the phone so notable, is the fact that a hardware and software company paired up to make one of the best phones to date. The phone can do anything you need. Whether it be to read news stories on the net at 3G speeds, call, text, email, or keep your life nice and organized with Google’s calendar. My suggestion is to buy the phone with Verizon this Spring, to get the best speeds (United States). I don’t think you will be disappointed.
