HTC Evolve Concept: A Beautiful Android OS Running Tablet

It seems like 2009 is the year of the tablet, with the Apple Tablet, Microsoft Courier Tablet, and the Joo Joo (formerly known as Crunchpad) generating buzz among the geeks.

According to Oppenheimer analyst Yair Reiner, the upcoming US$1,000 Apple Tablet, which comes with a 10.1-inch LCD display using the iPhone’s LTPS LCD technology, will launch between March and April 2010. On the other hand, the Microsoft Courier, which is still in the “late prototype” stage of development, features a multitouch dual 7-inch screens designed for writing, flicking and drawing with a stylus, in addition to fingers. Meanwhile, the Joo Joo, a $500 tablet-like device that is designed for Internet surfing, comes with a crisp 12.1-inch touchscreen display and an intuitive interface.

However, these three hot and coveted devices do not yet officially exist (except for the Joo Joo). As we anticipate the official announcements from Apple and Microsoft, why not check this beautiful HTC Android OS tablet concept designed by Timur Pinar from London!

The HTC Evolve concept is an attractive and stunning 10-inch tablet running on the Google Android OS, and features a “concave side” ergonomic body design. Similar to the Microsoft Courier Tablet, the HTC Evolve aims to help people draw and execute renders in a practical and efficient way by using a stylus pen. What’s cool is that there’s an extra OLED touch screen display which pops out from the left of the tablet. This feature allows users to easily access to additional programs.

  • Intel Atom processor
  • Touchscreen display
  • 128GB SSD drive
  • 1.5GB of RAM
  • Custom skinned version of Android OS or Chrome OS
  • 2 USB 3.0 ports
  • 1 HDMI port
  • 3.5mm headphone jack
  • Camera and microphone
  • Stylus pen
  • Extra OLED touchscreen with pre-programmed buttons

Although the HTC Evolve is merely a concept and will not be available for sale, but it would be great if Google joins in the tablet war against Apple and Microsoft by partnering with HTC (just like what they did for the Nexus One). Then it would be a nice show to watch!
