Anyone who is fully involved in the technology space has probably come across Chris Pirillo. Chris Pirillo has paved the way for modern blogging, and Youtube technology related channels. He has over 2,000 videos uploaded to Youtube. The technology junkie recently rolled out his new web hosting service, Lockergnome.net.
The whole idea of the site is to have all of your social media in one place. For $12.77 a month your given a “free” domain and WordPress hosting, through Page.ly. Page.ly gives you WordPress, like I said, but it is pretty much unrestricted. You are given pretty much “full access” in your WordPress allowing you to add plugins and themes. Lockergnome.net also gives you a huge magazine of themes, from Woo Themes. These themes are beautiful. They are nothing like the “crap” at WordPress.org. Lockergnome.net actually offers you a professional looking website. You are given an email account for your domain, which is backed up every night.
The reason I say “free” domain, is the fact you are kinda actually paying for it. If you cancel 45 days early, you are forced to pay a $10.00 cancellation fee, to pay for the domain instantly, instead of paying for it overtime. The nice thing about the “free” domain is the fact that Lockergnome.net will allow you to move it around, if you decide not to host with them.
The whole service is great. I think it is a chance for new bloggers to give their blog a professional look, if they don’t want to hassle with a domain and hosting account. I don’t think Lockergnome.net is ideal for anyone who is already with a hosting service and has WordPress already setup.
