The Nexus One is a phone loved by many, but has been missing one feature, multi-touch. When reading about the Nexus One, when first launched, many people said their only complaint was multi-touch. Well after a few weeks had gone by after the release, someone actually looked in hardware and found multi-touch was supported, it was only a matter of time before the update would come.
In a recent interview with an Android Product Manager, Eric Tseng, Eric mentioned their working on it. Well yesterday was the day it was released. Google rolled out the 2.1 update. The 2.1 update features multi-touch, Google Goggles on the device, and a newer version of Google Maps. The multi-touch will work in the browser, Google maps, and the gallery.
Google’s next assignment should be to give the rest of its Android devices 2.1. I am on Android 1.6, and I am really looking foward to whenever 2.1 is coming out, rumored to be before June.
Google says all the 2.1 updates, for the Nexus One, should be pushed out by the weekend.
