One Number: Gmail, Google Reader, Wave and Voice Notifier for Chrome

If Google Chrome is your default browser and you use Gmail to read/reply e-mails, Google Reader to receive the latest feed updates, or Google Wave for communication and collaboration purposes, then you ought to install this Chrome extension called One Number.

Similar to Firefox’s extension Gmail Notifier, One Number acts as a notifier for four Google services (Gmail, Google Reader, Google Wave and Google Voice) that checks unread counts for these Google products all in one button. It offers previews of unread items, allows users to select their preferred services, and provides a two-click access to open all services with unread items at once.

To start, simply download and install the extension here. Next, log in to your Google Account by left-clicking the icon in the toolbar and selecting the “Log In link” there. After which, you can then customize the look or change the settings under the “One Number Options” section.

As a Chrome addict who is obsessed with Gmail and Google Reader, I personally find this extension very useful because it automatically notifies me whenever I’ve received an e-mail on Gmail or a new item on my reader. Otherwise, I’d have to face a cluttered Google Toolbar and this may affect my web browsing experience.

A must-have for Google Chrome users!
