There has been quite a lot of buzz on Twitter and Facebook regarding the new Apple’s iPod Nano and Microsoft’s Zune HD. No matter whether or not users sang praises or pin-point the disadvantages of the respective music players, that didn’t stop Sony from introducing its its latest additions to its A-series Walkman range – the NW-A845, NW-A846 and NW-A847. On Wednesday morning, the Japanese tech giant unveiled one of the world’s thinnest walkman at only 7.2 mm, accompanied with a few impressive features. Available in both black and brown, the personal media players boast a 2.8-inch WQVGA OLED screen, TV-out function and audio niceties which include DSEE, Clear Stereo, Clear bass, and lyric display.
Standing out from its predecessors and arch rivals, the new players come in the most stylish appearance and an aesthetically pleasing user-interface. I personally prefer the black version, especially the shiny silvery keypad which makes it look attractive and eye-catching. Although the gorgeous media players offer jaw-dropping features, the new NW-A840 line-up is missing popular features such as a touchscreen and Wi-FI connectivity unlike Sony’s X Series Walkman.
The latest A-Series range will be released in Japan in October this year, with the 6GB A845 costing Y24,000 (US$264); 16GB A846 priced at Y30,000 (US$330); and the 32GB A847 retailing for Y40,000 (US$440).
