Let’s say you’re researching information for your Geography project and you hate heading to multiple websites such as Wikipedia, CIA World Factbook, etc. I know this is tough and time-consuming. As a student, I’ve encountered this for countless times and fortunately, with WorldStat, it can lighten my burden by offering a detailed and comprehensive list of statistics of the planet.
Having a goal in mind to not only help students for their research but also for ordinary people who wants to have a quick glance of the world statistics, all in one place. At there, you’re able to find out more information by clicking on a category (Geography: location, climate and area cover), (Demography: population and age statistics), (Economic: production and trade dynamics), (Prices: consumer, producer and share prices), (Finance: monetary markets and reserve assets), (Currencies: currency and interest rates) and last but not least (International: international trade and balance).
What I don’t really like about WorldStat is that it’s too wordy and reading too much of it makes some people feel bored. Not only that, the text are simply too tiny! In my personal view, the folks there should consider switching all their wonderful statistics from a HTML website to a flash-based animated interface which looks similar to BreathingEarth.net, a perfectly-done flash-based website that shows real-time CO2 emissions, including birth and death rates.
BreathingEarth – A Flash-Based World Statistics Website
If they were to do a clone of BreathingEarth but of course making some improvements to the user-interface to enhance the look and adding more useful statistics, most likely WorldStat will become a popular platform for people to do research or to view how well a particular country is performing as compared to other locations. Also, this will provides a fruitful and enjoyable experience for the users. Overall, WorldStat’s statistics are quite accurate and I’m pretty impressed by this project.
