100 Chinese CEOs’ Views About Internet 2009 (Summarized Form)

Tencent Tech held a special activity recently, that’s the interview of 100 famous CEOs (actually, include CEO, COO, CTO, Chairman, president, etc) from China about Internet 2009, and Tencent Tech created a special webpage to show what they are thinking. These CEOs are from China, but most of them are from international corporation such as Google, Microsoft, etc, so I think their view is quite useful for us internet users. Let me share them to you:

1. Cloud Computing

The topic of this section is “Let users access resources freely”. Zhang YaQing, the chairman of Microsoft (Beijing) Ltd, commented that Cloud Computing will be very common within 3-5 years, and he is always supporting Azure, the Cloud Computing service of Microsoft, and develop it in China. Another famous IT person is Lian ZhiHao. He is the president of Sun (Greater China), and his view about Cloud Computing is sharing the free resources of computers. He thinks this technology can be very helpful to solve difficult problems about biology or mathematics. The other 7 CEOs suggest that Cloud Computing can be the most popular application of Internet 2009.

2. Mobile Internet

The topic of this section is “The wall of ISP’s garden will be broken”. It may be hard for you to understand this topic as it means that Mobile Internet can let the whole Internet more open and free. Lei Jun, the chairman of a popular Mobile Internet corporation – UCWeb, feel that many big Internet corporations may develop Mobile Internet in 2009, these corporations can even be Google, Yahoo and Microsoft. They all have the opportunity to enter Mobile Internet market. The other CEOs supported his view and some of them supported Mobile E-Business.

3. Channels of Internet

The topic of this section is “Improving never stops”, this topic is very wide that include Android, Apps, Channel Marketing, Internet Media and Vertical Internet. Li KaiFu, the vice-president of Google, has published the plan of Google.cn in 2009 and he was supporting Channels of Internet. He said that the best way for Marketing in Internet 2009 will be Channel Marketing, and this is also Google’s master plan. Also, some other CEOs published their plan in 2009 too, and their directions are similar but not the same. Some of them want to develop Vertical Internet, especially about E-Business, and some of them still focus on “dealing with people”, and develop products like communities, groups and some other types of Social Networks Platforms.

4. Hand-hold Terminals

The topic of this section is “Your world in on your hand”, this is a special high-tech topic, but Hand-hold Terminals are really related to Internet 2009. Jia SiDing, the CTO of Intel, believed that AI may change our lives. This is a quite far imagination, but I think it should be the direction of Intel in the future. The other CEOs are all from chinese corporations, and they all believed that Hand-hold digital books can become true, and the core of digital books can be 3G.

5. Software Technology

Some of you may think that this section is too old for Internet 2009, but the topic is “Perfect Technology”. 9 CEOs chose this topic as their favorite, and most of them thought that we can work better under perfect technology of software, so software technology can also be the focus in 2009, and more and more Internet Softwares are noticing about that.

6. Servers

The topic of this section is “Server is coming to our desktop”. It is quite related to Cloud Computing and several services like GDrive will be dealing with this. 5 CEOs chose this as their favorite and all of them were supporting SSD (Solid-State Drive) in servers. Li YanHong, the chairman of Baidu said that “Baidu is the first search company that is using SSD in all servers”, and he described, using SSD instead of HDD is really helpful to increase the speed of search engine, and the news which was published one minute ago can be searched via Baidu now.

7. Virtualization

The topic of this section is “Virtualization is changing to application services”, this section is quite hot in these years. Liang NianJian, the CEO of Microsoft (Greater China), wrote something about the IT with financial crisis, and he thought that virtualization can save much money during financial crisis because the qualities of services will decrease during this time and we do not need to use many independent servers. We can use built-in virtualization dedicated servers instead to improve flexibility of Internet corporations.

What you’ve read above are the 7 sections of Internet 2009 based on CEOs’ views. I’ve only written a few CEOs’ views as most of them has the same main direction, and I think that under these 7 sections, Internet 2009 can be much more wonderful and even beyond our imagination!
