Quake Live – A First Person Shooter on a Browser

As Brad noted a few days ago, games are becoming more portable. While I personally don’t think JamLegend got a chance at succeeding,  It think Quake live has a relatively high chance of being a HUGE success.

If you are at work, this is gonna be what gamers play. Screw flash games. However, here at TechXav, we don’t play games while at work 🙂

All jokes aside, I got a chance to try this out and it is addictive. For those who don’t know, Quake is one of the founding fathers in First person shooters(FPS) and is made by the famous id software. It pretty shaped first person shooters, along with other famous FPS, such as Doom and Halo.

It’s a web game at its finest – Gravity works properly, guns shoot like guns, instead of launching slugs, and heck, it got the unique “quake” flavor to it.

Just a few weeks ago, they added support for Mac and Linux. However, Google Chrome is strangely left out of the compatibility list.

For those not convinced yet, here is a clip.

Yes, it’s on a browser.
